Marcus J Wilson – Owner

Marcus J Wilson, Pooka.Pro OwnerPooka.Pro was established by experienced arts marketer and web developer Marcus J Wilson.

Marcus is a former Broadband Britain Champion for his work on the Northings website (www.northings.com), which is the arts magazine and social network for arts and culture in northern Scotland.

Between 2003 and 2005, Marcus project managed a £250,000 project to develop an online ticketing service for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.  The Booth (www.thebooth.co.uk) quickly achieved all projected client adoption and income targets set, and Booth Scotland Ltd became an independent company in 2007, and has since rolled-out to service cultural organisations across Scotland.  As a result, Marcus sat on the Scottish Government’s National Box Office Scoping Group in 2007.

Marcus is currently a Reference Group member for Creative Scotland’s national Amb:IT:ion programme, which is engaged with over 200 cultural organisations across Scotland, funding a range of these to take forward major web development projects for their organisations.

Marcus runs the weekly Joomla! Breakfast in Edinburgh, a discussion group for Open Source developers using Joomla! CMS.

 

Jaco Justice – Associate Designer

Jaco JusticeJaco holds an Advance Diploma in Design and Interior Architecture and Design as well as an HND in Interior Design, and has worked on Pooka.Pro on a number of projects, including the Northings.com and Taigh Chearsabhagh websites.

As a Scottish graphic artist and writer, he is passionate about the arts in Scotland, and was Aberdeen editor forThe Skinny magazine.

His clients have included Peacock Visual Arts, Gray’s School of Art, GANE, University of Aberdeen, ECA, Soma Records, The Scotsman and The List.

Jaco is founder and operator of Go Reborn, a well-established collective promoting emerging artists, designers and writers, and runs the Open Source WordPress site at www.go-reborn.co.uk.

 

Chris Hardcastle – Associate Developer

Chris HardcastleChris is a website and application developer. He specialises in Open Source technologies, including PHP, MySQL and WordPress, as well as Object Oriented Programming using JavaScript and associated technologies.

He develops and integrates Content Management Systems, Plugins and modules for a wide range of Open Source projects, and is experienced in server administration.

Chris has an Upper Second Class BA Hons in Graphic Media Communication from Bradford College (2003).

 

Deryk Wenaus – Associate WordPress Developer

Deryk WenausDeryk is one of the world’s foremost experts in WordPress and BuddyPress technologies, and runs Blue Mandala Communications in Nelson, British Columbia.

The company works closely with its clients to develop internet-based solutions that help improve communication, efficiency and public presence. He studied communications, design and digital multimedia at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design from 1989-1992 and has a life-long passion for environmental conservation.

Deryk previously worked with Pooka.Pro on Northings.com and Taigh Chearsabhagh web projects.

Ethics

Pooka.Pro was established on strong ethical principles.

We are a carbon neutral business and offer carbon neutral web hosting – allowing our clients to rest assured that their website is not having a adverse impact on the environment.

We offer preferential rates to registered charities, and donate 10% of the proceeds of commercial contracts back to the charitable sector.

Currently, we are in the process of becoming a 100% paperless business.
